I would like to thank Grand Illusions for their kindness as on both of my recent orders, I paused for different reasons &they followed up /kept my order on file.
For years I bought toys and curiosities for my nieces and nephews. Now I'm buying them for the next generation. Of course, the person who gets most pleasure from these purchases is ME!
I really regret that Brexit has made shopping with Grand Illusions so difficult. I was scammed while trying to pay tax but here I am buying again.

Brexit has been very difficult for a lot of small companies in the UK when they try to send parcels to the EU, and I am sure there are also difficulties when sending items from the EU to the UK.
If we were a large company, we would have a warehouse in the EU and one in North America. But as we are a tiny company, these things are not possible sadly.
I am sorry to hear you were scammed when trying to pay tax.

Nothing like as good as advertised, almost impossible to focus them correctly even after trying for several minutes. we wish we hadn't bought them, really a waste of money at £14 quid or so, wish we could have got our money back.

As far as I know, the item ordered has still not reached destination in Abingdon. The recipients apparently gave an alternative drop-off but the courier did not follow the instructions. I have previously ordered articles from you (for the same recipient) and was satisfied with the delivery service, but not this time. I would be grateful if you could follow up and provide feedback, or refund my purchase. Many thanks.

I am sorry that things seem to have gone wrong with this delivery. I have asked the warehouse to check with EVRI, to see if they have any more information as to what happened. It may be that changing the drop off location may have caused a problem. It seems that the package is now on its way back to us. I am happy to send out a replacement package, but I need to check with you regarding the delivery address. It might be best if there is no need to change the delivery/drop off address after the order has been placed.

I am getting a different story from the warehouse. The message from EVRI says ' Returned to sender. Delivery refused. Scans show this was RTS due to damage.'.

You charge VAT. And then I had to pay VAT here again + import tax + paperwork. And as you use DHL, the most expensive courier, the handling of the importa paperwork was far too expensive. And this stuff you sell I could have purchased in Germany and Austria for cheaper + cheaper handling & shipping and no extra import costs and extra VAT.
The times they are changing, ... no more shopping from outside the EU. Congrats with your BREXIT!

I am sorry to hear that you are disappointed with this item. The Hyperscope is designed by Terry Pope, who is one of the leading experts in the world on this subject, and it is manufactured by Middlesex University. We have sold this item for many years, and it is incredibly rare for anyone to have a problem.
It does need to be constructed properly, and it will not work if the user does not have full stereoscopic vision. I can assure you that provided these two conditions are met, the Hyperscope works extremely well.
Terry has also designed professional versions of the Hyperscope, which can be found in universities, museums and galleries around the world.
I totally refute your statement that we are making misleading claims. Had you contacted us, we might have been able to give some advice. if several people have tried the Hyperscope, and none of them can see the effect, then it may be an issue with the assembly. Nevertheless I have refunded your money.

Poor communication over delivery. Order passed to fulfilment company which did not act on order placed in a timely manner. Order subsequently not received on due date. Phone call to supplier necessary to find out about delivery. Item was perfect and very interesting.

This order was placed on Monday 26th July, and was sent across to the warehouse the same day. They try and get orders out the same day, but Mondays are busy because they have to deal with orders that have come in over the weekend, and they are also having to observe social distancing and other measures due to Covid. So the order did not ship until the following day, i.e. Tuesday 27th July. The customer specified Royal Mail Tracked 24, and sure enough it was delivered the following day, 28th July.

I ordered 7 different items. The truck/dog does not transform. I bought two and and neither turned into a dog.Just clicked. The Cust Serv guy wrote me that they are delicate and probably not working correctly. He gave me the option of 2 new ones or a refund.The fact that they are that delicate and 2 out of 2 didn't work I asked for a refund. NO response. Nothing for over a week. The nitinol wires get tangled and don't turn into hot without help. Not anything like video.

I was very excited to receive the 30 Note Music Box Set and 10 Blank Strips, they arrived when indicated they would.
It played well for half a day before the highest note began going flat, before failing to register anymore. The piece that plays the highest note bent gradually out of range after a couple playthroughs of the songs I had planned in advance and punched out the same day.
Customer Service never responded to the emails I sent about the defect with photo and video proof :(

Apologies - I have not heard back yet from the manufacturer. I have spoke to my colleague Tim, who suggests that a little strip of adhesive tape - the kind that has a cloth/fabric style backing, applied inside the slider, should give it the required friction so that it does not slip.
I am sorry you have had this problem. Let me know if this fixes it. Otherwise I will send you a replacement free of charge.

The dome arrived perfect and worked like it should. Just a few days later the color started to fade away. A couple of months have passed, and the vortex is barely visible and it last just for a few seconds.

My comment is not on the kit, it hasn't been used yet, but on the shipping / service.
The total of my order was £ 21.66
The package was marked as valued at £ 100. that meant when going through customs I had to pay about 5 times as much taxes as I should have.
What benefit was this to Grand-Illusions? It cost me almost $20 Cdn, and you a pissed off customer!
